Library Session Summaries

  • CH2411 Library Session 1 (Week 2)
    Students will be introduced to these resources for selecting and doing preliminary research on a compound: Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, Knovel Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, PubChem and the Merck Index: An Encyclopedia of Chemicals, Drugs, and Biologicals.
  • CH2411 Library Session 2 (Week 14)
    Students will use SciFinder to locate a journal article describing the first synthesis of an assigned compound.
  • CH2421 Library Session I (Week 1)
    Students will be introduced to Organic Syntheses: A Publication of Reliable Methods for the Preparation of Organic Compounds and will conduct a search for synthesis information for an assigned compound.
  • CH2421 Library Session 2 (Week 14)
    Students will conduct a citation search for an assigned journal article using Web of Science, after completing an online tutorial.

ChemDraw - Download Instructions & Tutorials

To download a student copy of ChemDraw to your laptop or home computer:

1. Go to http://www.cambridgesoft.com/ and register for an account for PerkinElmer Informatics using your mtu.edu email address. "Register" is on the top right part of the web page, under the search bar.

2. After you login for the first time there will be a bar on the right side of the screen with a label that says "Services". Under the "Services" menu, select "My Site Subsciption".

3. After following that link there will be one in the center of the page that says "Download Site Subscription Software".


4. This will take you to the download link for the software. Your License Key will be sent to your email after downloading it.

Tutorials: Require Adobe Reader 9 or higher to view.
