Citation Searching: PubMed

Finding Citing Articles in PubMed

Look in this database for articles covering biological, medical, and biomedical engineering disciplines.

Note: PubMed only contains information about citing articles that are also indexed in PubMed. Additional sources like Web of Science and Google Scholar should also be checked for citing articles in conjunction with PubMed.

1) Navigate to PubMed from the library databases page (if you are off-campus you will be asked to enter your username and password - the same one as for your MTU e-mail).

2) On the main search page, enter the title of the article you are looking for in quotes and click "Search."

3) If there is an exact match to the article, you will be taken directly to the detailed record page. Information about citing articles is in the right sidebar. If this section is missing, then no other PubMed articles cite the one you're looking at.

If you want to search by author, enter the name in the format "LastName FirstInitialMiddleInitial" and click "Search." The resulting list of articles will not show any citing article information in the brief view, so you will have to click on each one by one to get the citing article information, using the technique shown above.
